Nomadic Press and EastSide Arts Alliance firmly stand with the Clarion Alley Mural Project (CAMP) and denounce the library’s decision to prohibit the Wall + Response exhibition to open without censoring the image of the project’s Arab Liberation Mural. This was done by the Exhibits Department at the San Francisco Public Library. As such, we are calling for the immediate cancellation and removal of our current exhibit with the African American Center on the 3rd floor of the San Francisco Public Library (“Painting the Streets”). We are boycotting today’s panel marking the opening of the exhibit, and we are fully aligned with the Wall + Response writers and artists in “their serious concerns about the decision of the Public Library to avoid the growing world recognition of Israel’s oppression of Palestinians by censoring the Arab Liberation Mural” and join them in calling for the reinstatement of the Wall + Response exhibit in its entirety. Until this time, we will be boycotting SFPL’s programming and hope that they will agree to the timely removal of our “Painting the Streets” exhibit. “Painting the Streets” voices third world solidarity and unity of dozens of writers, artists, and poets; to honor the values, mission, and vision of this publication means we stand with our Palestinian community and the fight against art censorship.”
