Bloody Thursday, ILWU Local 6 (1995)

In 1995 Clarion Alley Mural Project organized the mural project “Bloody Thursday” at the ILWU Local 6 headquarters at 255 9th Street in San Francisco. Based on a large WPA-style canvas inside the union hall, each figure was painted by a different artist. It depicts a scene of police violence during the 1934 Longshoreman’s strike.

Participating artists included: Isis Rodriguez, Barry McGee, Ruby Neri, Chuck Sperry, Rigo 95, Jeff Stevens, Sebastiana Pastor, Carolyn Castaño, and John Fadeff.
