Myth of Four
Works in Videos by SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) Artists
August 6 – August 20, 2022
From Zamin Project Series, presented by Clarion Alley Mural Project
Co-presented by Hamzianpour & Kia Gallery in Los Angeles
In collaboration with Clarion Alley Mural Project Hamzianpour & Kia Gallery is pleased to co-present Myth of 4, from the Zamin Project’s Video Series, showcasing video works by eighteen SWANA (South West Asia & North African) artists based in the Bay Area and beyond. For the first time, we gathered SWANA artists from north and south of California and Canada to showcase video works that represent the reflection and recreation of their illogical and illusory past, present, and future. These works explore the demonstration of individuals’ struggles against external forces, constructing infinite narratives of war, the experience of migration, exile, identity, connection, love, and loss.
Zamin Project is a multi-faceted art project that aims to create a space for dialogue and connection between SWANA artists, curators, and educators in the Bay Area & beyond. The project was founded by Iranian-American multidisciplinary artist Shaghayegh Cyrous in Aggregate Space Gallery in Oakland in 2021. This second series is presented by Clarion Alley Mural Project, co-presented by Hamzianpour & Kia Gallery, and supported by the California Arts Council.
Featuring works by Sholeh Asgary, Katayoun Bahrami, Zeina Barakeh, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaghayegh Cyrous, Negar Farajiani, Kiana Honarmand, Nasim Moghadam, Labkhand Olfatmanesh, Narges Poursadeghi, Semco Salehi, Azin Seraj, Rojin Shafie, Ebtihal Shedid, Nadia Shihab, Keyvan Shovir, B Sisters, and Cyrus Yoshi Tabar.
